Parenting is not an easy task. Becoming a parent is the easiest part, whereas, being a conscious and positive parent is a momentous task. Parenting is the most important role one faces in a lifetime. Parents who provide an encouraging environment for their children are rewarded when, as adults, their children realize a successful fit into the culture and society. Parenting concepts are deeply rooted in the majority of families in that country, because of a strong, sustained tradition of educating and training young parents to accept, perform. and establish enduring relationships and responsibilities with their children. Generally, the young mother is introduced to the nuances of parenting by way of the “hands on” method at her parental home, and under the guidance of her mother or an experienced family member. This practice could be the reason why the need for professional parent education usually is not expressed. Effective parenting enables children to build and develop positive behavior. and good, solid self-concepts that are important for functioning fully as a healthy adult. Parenting, as such, is greatly dependent on intra-familiar issues that play a significant role in parental performance. However, parenting skills can be strengthened if parents learn about themselves as a “parent” and about children’s development. Learning about the stages of human development helps parents understand about their ever changing roles in the lives of their children and also what is expected of a parent at each stage. Finally, a father’s love and influence is as important as a mother’s in the life of a child. Fathers should overcome the internal and external barriers that exist to fulfill the duties of fathering. According to the author, .

A、becoming a parent is a very difficult task

B、becoming a parent is an important task

C、parenting is a difficult and important task

D、parenting is an easy task

your living and see the world at the same time. Yet, many people consider flight attendants to be simply multi-lingual waitresses doing a very routine job.

Surely the truth must lie somewhere between these conflicting views. Of course, flight attendants do travel a lot yet are often tired or do not have enough time to take advantage of all the places they visit. They are working women after all! It is also true that speaking several 1anguages and having hotel experience are requirements for the job. But in addition, a flight attendant must be a psychologist and a nurse and be able to remain calm and efficient and carry out the necessary procedures in case of an emergency. A passenger's life may depend on her just as much as on the pilot.

So let us not underestimate her — apparently she is a charming waitress but she is also a highly trained and essential member of the crew of an aeroplane. Without her, there is no doubt that traveling by air would become a terrible experience. From this we can see what important role she plays in modern transportation.

(26)

A.They do routine work and speak a few languages.

B.They see the world and earn a lot of money.

C.They look pretty and look after passengers.

D.They see the world and do routine work.

听力原文: The Americans believe that anybody can become President of the United States. In a recent Hollywood comedy, that is exactly what happens.

Dave Kovic, played by Kevin Kline, is a kind-hearted man who runs a business that finds people jobs. He leads a typical American way of life, except for one thing — he looks exactly like the President, Bill Mitchell. In fact, the only thing that makes him different from the nation's leader is that he is very nice!

The president has started using look-alikes during some public appearances. Dave is offered a chance to "serve his country" by becoming one. However, things go wrong. The President becomes very ill and Dave ends up acting as the President forever.

Director Ivan Reitman, who made the popular and successful comedies like Twins, Ghostbusters and Legal Eagles, could have gone for easy laughs by making fun of the American government. Instead, Dave is an attractive comedy about an ordinary man in extraordinary situations. Kevin Kline gives a double performance as Dave and the President, and Sigourney Weaver is at her best as his First Lady. The love story that develops between her role and Dave is a real classic.

The film is 100% American. However, if you've ever felt that anybody could do a better job running the country than the people in power, then you'll enjoy Dave!

Questions 29 to 31 are based on the passage you have just heard.

29. What is the purpose of the passage?

30. Who plays the role of the President in the film?

31. What can be inferred from the passage?

(30)

A.To make a comparison between Dave and other films.

B.To discuss the Americans' ideas about the President.

C.To tell readers about the American government.

D.To introduce a new film to the reader.

听力原文:W: Hi, George. Got any plans for tonight?

M: Not exactly. Do you have any suggestions?

W: In fact, I do. I just got two tickets to the opening of the exhibit of the reprints by Julia Margaret Cameron. I should have mentioned it earlier, but I wasn't sure if I'd even get the tickets.

M: An exhibit, huh? I like that. But I don't know who Julia...

W: Julia Margaret Cameron! She was a renowned photographer who changed the aesthetics for photography.

M: What do you mean?

W: Well, her specialty was portraits and instead of just making a factual record of details like most photographers did, you know, just capturing what a person looks like in a dispassionate way. She, like a portrait painter, was interested in capturing her subject's personality.

M: Interesting! How did she do that?

W: Well, she invented a number of techniques that affect the picture. One of those things was to blur images slightly by using a soft focus on the subject. That's pretty common now.

M: Yeah. Who did she photograph?

W: Famous people of her days, like Alfred Lord Tennyson, Charles Darwin, just to name a few. Why not find out by yourself at the exhibition?

M: You've picked my curiosity. I am going to enjoy this.

(9)

A.Her subject's home.

B.Her subject's personality.

C.Her subject's social status.

D.Her subject's role in history.

y. For weeks my mother had helped me practice my lines. But once on stage, every word disappeared from my head. Then my teacher told me she bad written a narrator's part for the play, and asked me to change roles. Though I didn't tell my mother what had happened that day, she sensed my unhappiness and asked if I wanted to take a Walk in the yard.

It was a lovely spring day. We could see dandelions popping through the grass in bunches, as if a painter had touched our landscape with bits of gold. I watched my mother carelessly bend down by one of the bunches. "I think I am going to dig up all these weeds," she said. "From now on, we'll have only roses in this garden. "

"But I like dandelions," I protested. "All flowers are beautiful — even dandelions!" My mother looked at me seriously. "Yes, every flower gives pleasure in its own way, doesn't it?" she asked thoughtfully. I nodded. "And that is true of people, too," she added.

When I realized that she had guessed my pain, I started to cry and told her the truth.

"But you will be a beautiful narrator," she said, reminding me of how much I loved to read stories aloud to her.

Over the next few weeks, with her continuous encouragement, I learned to take pride in the role. The big day finally came. A few minutes before the play, my teacher came over to me. "Your mother asked me to give this to you," she said, handing me a dandelion. After the play, I took home the flower, laughing that I was perhaps the only person who would keep such a weed.

(30)

A.Mainly because she felt nervous on the stage.

B.Mainly because she lost her interest in that role.

C.Mainly because she preferred the role of the narrator.

D.Mainly because she had difficulty memorizing her words.
