听力原文:Her father, Vernon Winfrey, was a barber, and a businessman, and he provided his

daughter with the discipline that she so badly needed. Under his influence, she applied herself to study and work. At the age of 19 she got her first broadcasting job on a local radio station. She also enrolled at Tennessee State University to study speech and performing arts. In 1972 she became America's first African-American news anchor, but it was not until 1978 that she was hired to host a talk show. Within eight years she became well-established, and she moved to Chicago. Her talk show became famous for her willingness to talk honestly about very personal issues — and to reveal aspects of her own personal experience in a very frank and honest way: ordinary people felt that she was sincere, genuine, and they loved her for these qualities. In 1986 the Oprah Winfrey Show became a program that was broadcast nationwide. At this time, she also won the award for Best Supporting Actress in the film The Color Purple, which came out in 1985.

听力原文: Father's Day was first observed in Spokane, Washington, in 1910. [32] Mrs. Dodd first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1906. [33] In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national ceremony of [34] Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June, coming almost sixty years after Mother's Day had been proclaimed a national holiday. 听力原文: Mary Cassatt was born in 1854 near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (32) Her father, Robert Cassatt, was a wealthy investor. Her mother, Katherine, had a deep knowledge of books, art and the French language.

Mr Cassatt wanted his children to experience European education and culture. Mary and her family visited the Universal Exhibition. (33) She might also have seen the works of a revolutionary painter, Gustave Courbet. Courbet's art was criticized for its realism. So, he was not permitted to show his work in the exhibit. Instead, he created his own exhibit space nearby.

During the 19th century in the United States, wealthy women usually did not have careers. Women generally learned how to care for a house. (34)But Mary Cassatt was different. She believed that her training in art was much more than a fun activity. She saw art as her future. Her father did not approve of her decision to become an artist. But Mary did not let this stop her. She realized that to become a fully trained artist, she had to go to Europe to study. Travel was impossible during the four year American Civil War that began in 1861. So, it was not until 1866 that she returned to Paris.

Cassatt worked hard copying the great paintings hanging in the Louvre museum. She also studied with different teachers. In 1868, (35) one of Mary Cassatt's paintings was accepted into the Paris Salon. This show was operated by the government-controlled French Academy of Fine Arts. Two years later, the Salon accepted another of her paintings. Her career as a successful artist had begun.

(33)

A.She succeeded in investing.

B.She was knowledgeable for arts.

C.She succeeded in paintings.

D.She disliked books and arts.

听力原文:W: You look worried, David. Anything wrong with you?

M: Oh, it's nothing really.

W: Arc you sure? Would you like to talk about it?

M: Well, to be honest, it's.., it's my mother. She... she.., how shall I put it? She has been behaving strangely lately. Do you know what I mean?

W: Not quite. How? In what way?

M: Well, you see, ever since my father died, she has been unhappy even though.

W: But that is normal, isn't it? People are always upset about things like that.

M: Yes, yes. Of course, they are. But they never got on that well when he was alive. Always arguing. And it happened more than three years ago. I never thought that she would miss him so much.

W: Oh, I see what you mean.

M: It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't live so far away. When my father retired, they moved to the seaside. Then only a year later, my father suddenly had a heart attack and just passed away. Now she's all alone in a big cottage by the sea with very few friends and no family near. her.

W: She must be very lonely.

M: Yes, she is. My wife and I go to see her as often as we can. But it isn't easy. I phone her at least twice a week and ask her if she is all right or if she needs something... And that is something else that worries me.

W: What?

M: Her memory seems to be going. I have to remind her to do all sorts of things.., to pay the gas bill, for instance. She gets annoyed with me. But I know she'll forget if 1 don't.

W: Well, don't worry about it too much. She's just getting old, that's all.

听力原文: Hollywood produces many different kinds of films, including mysteries, musicals, love stories, and horror films. As different as these films may be, they generally have one thing in common conflict. The main character wants something very badly and will do anything to get it. The opponent tries to stop the main character from achieving his goal. This opposition creates conflict, and conflict is the heart of drama. To give an example, let's say the main character is a young man of humble origin who wants to marry the beautiful daughter of a rich banker. The father thinks the young man is unworthy of his daughter, and he does not allow her to see him. The young man, who's very much in love, refuses to give up without a fight. The conflict between the young man and the girl's father is what makes the story interesting; it forces the main character to take action, and through their actions we see them as they actually are. In a good story, the main character changes he is not the same at the end of the story as he was at the beginning. He learns something from his experiences that make him a different, perhaps batter person. And we learn something from watching him. Good movies not only entertain us, they also help us understand a little more about life.

(23)

A.Love.

B.Violence.

C.Conflict.

D.Mystery.
