听力原文:M: Hello, you must be Lisa? Please come in, I am Harry Smith from Harvard.

W: Hi, Dr. Smith, I am Lisa. Dr. Watts recommended me to come here.

M: It is a pleasure to be able to finally meet you! Dr. Watts has been telling me so many good things about you.

W: That's very flattering. But I am not sure that I deserve all of that praise!

M: Yes, of course you do! I have learned so much about you. It's so fresh to see a student who is so modest about her accomplishments. Now would you mind my telling you what type of help I will need with my project.

W: Sure.

M: I am basically looking for someone who can gather information regarding cultures which exist along the Amazon River.

W: Really? What a coincidence! That's the topic for my senior paper!

M: That's fabulous! Would you be available to do around 16- 20 hours of research each week? I'm currently on vacation, so I'll be staying in Southern California the next three months. Perhaps we could meet each week to review your findings.

W: That's great! I will be very happy to work with you.

M: Good, if you decide to take this short-term job, the university has agreed to provide 4 credit hours for your work in this position.

听力原文:M: Hello?

W: Hello, Debbi. This is Frank. I’m in a bit of a crisis.

M: What happened ?

W: I'm here at the station and my train leaves in twenty minutes. The problem is my suitcase is missing and all my important documents are in it. What am I going to do?

M: Where did you put it?

W: I took it out of the trunk of my taxi and left it on the sidewalls. Then I paid the driver. But when I turned around my suitcase had disappeared.

M: Oh that's unfortunate. Um...

W: There was another suitcase the same color on the sidewalk. I think someone must have got mine. I didn't have my name on mine and there's no name on this one either. What do you think I should do?

M: Well, I think the best thing to do is to go to the Railway Information desk and report this to the people there and leave the case with them. With any luck the other person will find out that he's taken the wrong case and will get in touch with Railway Information too. You should tell them to send your suitcase when it's found. Call me again before you leave to tell me what's happened. I can chase the railway people for you if necessary.

(12)

A.Someone took his suitcase by mistake.

B.He left his suitcase in the trunk of a taxi.

C.Someone stole his suitcase at the railway station.

D.He lost all his important documents including his train ticket.

听力原文:W: Hello, Dr. Christianson.

M: Hello, Cathy, what can I do for you?

W: Well, [22] I need an extension for my report on whales. Next Wednesday I am supposed to present in class and hand my report in, but I won't be ready.

M: You had six weeks to work on this, and [23] I have a policy of penalizing heavily for late assignments. You lose 20% the first day, and 10% for each day after.

W: Well, my computer broke down and I lost everything. I have taken the computer into the Campus Computer Center but they cannot retrieve any of my files.

M: [24] 1 can sympathize with the computer issue, because it happened to me once when I was a student. My computer crashed just as I was on the last page of a 10,000-word essay. I assume this will be a lesson to you.

W: Oh yes.

M: Well, let's look at the calendar and see if there is another opportunity for your presentation and report.

W: What about on November 29?

M: Let me see, no, that wouldn't work as Jane Clark is doing her presentation that day.

W: I'm not sure I can get it finished much sooner as I have to start writing the report from scratch.

M: Well, perhaps I can allow you to hand in your report on November 29, but the presentation must be sooner. Looking at my calendar, the only possible day would be November 22. [25] Rob Metcalf was supposed to present that day but I understand he was in a serious car accident and had to withdraw from university.

W: I didn't know that.

M: So, we have arranged for you to present on November 22, and hand in your report on November 29.

W: Thanks again, Dr. Christianson.

(23)

A.Help her prepare the presentation.

B.Give her extra time to finish the report.

C.Give her some advice on doing the report.

D.Hand in her report next Wednesday.

听力原文:M: Hello, how can I help you?

W: My son isn't feeling well and I'd like to get some advice.

M: What seems to be the problem?

W: Well, he has been coughing for several days now. I'm wondering if he should come in and see the doctor.

M: How old is he?

W: He is 3 years old.

M: Does he have any other symptoms like fever, runny nose, or loss of appetite?

W: No, actually other than the cough, he seems healthy. I am concerned though, because some of his sister's friends have whooping cough and I know that it can be very contagious. Isn't that a pretty serious illness?

M: It can be serious with babies. Has your son been immunized against whooping cough?

W: I'm not sure. He did get all of the suggested vaccinations. I will look it up in our records.

M: If he has been immunized recently, it is very unlikely that he would catch whooping cough, even if he has been exposed.

W: Sounds like I don't have to worry about that, but what shall I do about his cough?

M: It will help if you give him lots of fluids and a hot bath before bedtime. Keep an eye on the cough to watch to see if it gets worse. Call us again if he has a fever or if you are still concerned.

W: Thanks for your advice.

M: You are welcome. Good-bye.

W: Bye-bye.

(23)

A.He has got a bad cold.

B.He has caught whooping cough.

C.He has a fever and a bad appetite.

D.He has been coughing for several days.
