听力原文: When my husband was promoted, we put our house up for sale. Three weeks later, it was still on the market. I became a busy housekeeper. Every room had to be kept tidy and dishes had to be washed and put away when used. Then one day, the door bell rang unexpectedly at 8 am. Sleepily I opened the door and saw our agent standing there with a couple from New York. "There was no time to call," he explained, "the couple has to catch a plane home." The three people made their way past the dirty breakfast dishes on the kitchen table and entered a bedroom with unmade beds. As I retreated into a bathroom to comb my hair, I heard the man say something to his wife. Then they both laughed. Two days later the agent phoned to tell me that the couple had bought the house. He repeated what the couple had said when he handed over the check the following day, "That house has a warm lived-in feeling just like ours."

(33)

A.She wanted to move to New York.

B.Her husband had lost his job.

C.Her husband had got a higher position.

D.She wanted to have a wider house.

听力原文: Have you always wanted to invest, but didn't know where to get started? Here are
three basic guidelines to smart investing, for your future.

Number one is to have clear goals. Decide how many years you will invest for, and what your needs will be in the future.

Number two is to understand the range of possibilities. You'll want a diversified portfolio: one with a mix of stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and cash. It's a jungle out them. Each of these products has different risks associated with them and also different potential rewards. Understand them before you buy, so there won't be any big surprises later.

Finally, number three is to have realistic expectations. As our Mend Leonardo da Vinci said in the year 1500: "He who wishes to be rich in a day will be hanged in a year."

Over the past several years, New York stocks have averaged 30% annual returns, but don't count on this continuing. While it's true that since the year 1900, stocks have averaged an 11% annual return. It's a roller-coaster ride with many minus years as well, so you have to stay in for the long term--you have to weather the storm--and not be too greedy.

(30)

A.To develop a savings plan.

B.To set up a bank account.

C.To set clear investing goals.

D.To work out the budget.

The 500 UK motor workers who had been on strike in High Town for the past 3 three weeks went back to work this morning, This follows successful talks between management and union representatives, which resulted in a new agreement on working hours and conditions. A spokesman for the management said they'd hope they could now get back to producing cars, and that they lost lots of money and orders over this dispute. And finally the weather. 听力原文: The 22nd of November 1970 is a day that three British soldiers and an army officer's wife will remember for a long time. On that day the four of them left in their speedboat to go to the club in Castle Peak Bay. They reached the club without any difficulty. But on their return trip in the evening the motor of their boat broke down. They could not repair it, so they drifted along in the boat. Huge waves kept splashing over the sides of the boat. At last they landed on a small island. One of them described it: "it was just a tiny island with long grass and bushes."

They had no food or water, so two of them walked round the island to see if they could find any. "The only thing we saw was a rat," said a man later. Meanwhile the other two persons had made a fire with driftwood to attract the attention of any passing boat. Two boats sailed past but did not stop although the men shouted and waved a burning board at them.

Back on land the families of the four friends had informed the police when they failed to return home by night. Steamers were sent to search for them as they huddled before their fire, tired and cold. At dawn a motorized boat passed by and spotted them. A man and the officer's wife went on board and were taken home. They reported to the police, who went at once to the island and brought the other two men safely back.

(33)

A.The engine of their boat stopped working.

B.The were attacked by thunderstorm.

C.They ran out of oil.

ertising Company.

M: [24]I don't think we have an appointment.

W: No, we don't. You'll have to excuse me for this.

M: Since you are already here, what can I do for you?

W: Well, as far as I know, your company was founded three years ago and your business has been quite good for

the past two years.

M: [24]I'm quite busy, Miss Redner. If you don't mind, just get straight to the point.

W: OK. I believe that you must have seen a lot of S.A.C. designed TV commercials and billboards, and if we cooperate, it'll certainly make your products better known and sold. What do you think?

M: I'm quite satisfied with the company that designs our advertisements at present.

W: Don't say no for no's sake, please. Here are some samples of our designs. Have a look, if you please.

M: All fight... They're pretty good but...

W: [25]The payment we ask for is very reasonable. Besides, you won't have the bondage of a contract. If you're not satisfied with us, we'll refund the money. But, of course, such a thing has never happened. We'll redo the commercial or billboard over and over again until you're satisfied.

M: There's no harm in giving it a try, I think. Leave your card. I'll call you when the next new product is ready to go on the market.

B.To ask for an interview.

C.To promote advertisement.
