听力原文:M: Hi, Grace. Mind if I eat lunch with you'?

W: No. Mr. Evans, not at all.

M: Thanks. I just heard that you're studying nutrition and you've got quite a bit of experience working in the cafeteria, so I wonder if you will be interested in a small project we are doing this term.

W: What's the project all about?

M: More and more students have been deciding not to buy the meal here and we want to attract them back. So I want to hear what students would like. Your job would be to find out.

W: Well, if the menus were changed, then maybe I wouldn't have to listen to so much criticism.

M: That makes you perfect for the job. Would you be interested?

W: I'm not sure. What sorts of changes are you thinking of?

M: I'd like to make some changes in the way we prepare our food. For example, just look at what we have to choose from today. You got a fried hamburger and I got fried chicken. They both contain too much fat.

W: But you'd better not get rid of them. They're everybody's favorite.

M: Well, we can certainly keep them, but we need to give the people Who are health-conscious some choices. For example, we could also prepare chicken without the fatty skin and serve it on some rice with a light sauce. Do you think that would appeal to students?

W: Well; I'd like that. You're right. You'd better find out what others think. Sorry, I've got to get back to work. I'd like to hear more though. I'll drop by your office later.

M: OK, see you then.

(23)

A.The size of the cafeteria.

B.The food served in the cafeteria.

C.The cost of meals in the cafeteria.

D.Career opportunities in cafeterias.

听力原文:W: Hi, Kevin.

M: Hi, Lora, long time no see. What have you been up to lately?

W: Not much I can assure you. And you?

M: Much the same except I do have some big news.

W: Come on, the suspense is killing me.

M: Not really, what have you been doing these past few weeks? The last time I saw you, you were looking for a new job.

W: Well, that's not exactly true. I was thinking about changing jobs. Luckily, they offered me a new position in the accounting department.

M: A step up in the big business world.

W: I wouldn't exaggerate, but I'm pleased. I had been hoping to get promotion for a while, so when it finally came through I was relieved. Actually, that's why I was looking for a new job. I just didn't want to work there anymore if they weren't going to recognize my efforts.

M: Right, sometimes you can do your best and it seems like the others don't know you exist. I hope the money is better.

W: I got a reasonable raise. Now, enough about me. I'm dying to hear your news.

M: I'm getting married.

W: No, you said you'd never get married.

M: That was then, and this is now. You've got to meet Andrea. She is great.

W: This is all news to me. I didn't even know you were dating.

M: We weren't. We've just been dating for two weeks now.

W: And you are getting married?

M: I know. I can't help it. I just know she is the one.

W: Well, congratulations. That's fantastic.

M: Thanks, I'm glad to hear you feel that way.

听力原文:W: Hi, John!

M: Hi, Beth!

W: Congratulations! I heard you've got a part-time job.

M: No. I wish I had. I'm still on the waiting list.

W: Seems like it's hard to get a good part-time job these days.

M: You bet. I've been searching online for days, but there's little chance...

W: Funny, isn't it? You're a Management major concentrating on Marketing. Now you've got to learn how to market yourself! Why not look in the local paper? There're often lots of jobs in it.

M: Are you kidding? The unemployment figures are up again this month!

W: Don't be so negative. Look at the jobs in the classifieds in today's paper...so many openings. Just print out your resume and send it to them.

M: I usually apply online. I send a short cover letter in the text of the email, and then attach my resume. It's convenient. What about you? Any luck?

W: Well, I haven't even started planning to look for a job yet. If only I had more time, I could do it.

M: Why so busy?

W: Well, I didn't get good grades last semester and failed two tests...

M: Sorry to hear that. I think no one deserves good grades more than you!

W: Thank. you. The main reason, I guess, was that I didn't get accustomed to the way of learning here. Well, where there's a will, there's a way. I wish you good luck on your job search.

(20)

A.He has got a part-time job.

B.He is still on the waiting list.

C.He has not yet started to look for a job.

听力原文:W: Hello.

M: Hi, Sarah, this is Mike.

W: Great to hear from you Mike! How have you been doing these days?

M: To tell you the truth, I'm very worried about our final examinations next month. For one thing, I'm suffering from insomnia. I can't fall asleep, even after I've swallowed some sleeping pills.

W: I sympathize! I went through the same thing last year.

M: That's exactly why I'm calling you. Do you have any suggestions for coping with anxiety? You know how I hate exams!

W: Well, take a walk or have a shower before you go to sleep.

M: I have tried. All seems to be of no use.

W: OK. I know, last year the university offered a stress-management course at about this time. Have you been in contact with the student health services?

M: No, I have always been pressed for time!

W: Funny, isn't it? Just when students need help most, we can't afford the time to get it!

M: Well, perhaps I should find out more about this stress-management course. Things have got to get better!

W: I suggest you call the health services tomorrow. They open at nine a. m.

听力原文:M: Well, Amina, thanks for letting me have your draft in such good time.

W: Oh, that's alright. I was just very anxious to hear what you think of it. You can see that I decided to change the topic—I had been interested in looking at Barings Factory

M: Oh, I think the hospital was a much better choice. In fact... well... I have to say that I thought it was good.

W: Oh ?

M: There's still lots of work to be done... But there're plenty of good ideas. It opens well and the first chapter is fine, but the middle section really stood out for me...most interesting.

W: That's amazing because I really didn't find it a bit easy to write.

M: How long did you work on the whole thing?

W: Well, I spent about two or three weeks reading and doing general research and then I completed it very quickly, so about four weeks in all.

M: Well, that's normal for the course. You've got a while yet to make the changes. Let's have a look at my notes here. OK, starting with section headings.., the broad divisions are good but you'll have to redo the actual headings. I've made some suggestions in the margins. Now this information on local housing, I can see why you put it there but it really isn't relevant to the approach you've taken.

W: I think I see what you mean.

M: And the interviews are very complex and rather unclear at the moment. You're going to have to spend a bit of time making the data a lot clearer.

W: What about the list of dates?

M: My advice on that is to take them out. I feel it makes the whole piece appear too simplistic.

(20)

A.He thinks the choice of Barings Factory is better.

B.He thinks the choice of the hospital is better.

C.He thinks there is no need to change the topic.

D.He thinks the choice of the university is better.

听力原文:M: Excuse me, may I have some information about the reception party that you're a
dvertising outside. It's for new students, isn't that right?

W: That's right and what would you like to know about it?

M: Well, I'm not really sure what the purpose of the event is.

W: The party will provide students with a chance to get to know each other, and a chance for students who have successfully been through university to pass on some valuable advice.

M: Who's organizing the event? Is it the faculty or...

W: Actually, it is the Alumni Association that's organizing this event. So, it's strictly a student to student event.

M: I hope we won't have to sit through a lot of boring speeches. I mean aren't these students just "brains" anyway. What can they actually do to help a guy like me?

W: No, these people are not "brains" at all. The Alumni are simply a group of normal, but grateful students who hope that, by sharing their experiences with new students, they can help more students to successfully graduate.

M: But still we have any time for some fun at this party?

W: Most of the time will be split between eating, dancing, and singing—so not to worry. However, some of the words of wisdom from the former students should not be missed.

M: You've got a point. They are, after all, success stories if they've managed to survive university life. I hear about only half of all students who start university actually finish it.

W: And besides that, there's another reason to go.

M: What's that?

W: The pie they'll be serving is delicious. I know since I'm the one who will be making it.

(20)

A.The University faculty.

B.The Student Association.

C.Former students.

D.No one.
