W: Well, I'm calling about the theater group I belong to, the Princeton Players. We are looking for more people to join ns, especially men and I thought you might be interested.

M: Oh, gosh, you know how much I love acting, but I'm taking some very hard courses. I might be able to learn my part, but ! would hardly have time to come to practice.

W: Well, actually we practice only one night a week, Thursdays from seven to ten, though we would have to put in extra time before performance.

听力原文:W: Good morning.

M: Good morning.

W: Well, what are your predictions about the world? What is it going to be like in the year 2020?

M: Hum, if present trends continue, I'm afraid the world in 2020 will be more crowded and more polluted than the world we live in now.

W: Don't you think we will be able to cope with the increase in world population?

M: I don't think so. Even though production is constantly increasing, the people of the world will be poorer than they are today. For hundreds of millions of the desperately poor, the supply of toad and other necessities of life will not be any better. And for many they will be worse, unless the nations of the world do something to change the current trends.

W: What is your estimate of world population in year 2020?

M: If present trends continue, that is with the number of births by far could approach 6,500million people.

W: How many people are born every day?

M: About 250 every minute, but only 100 people die!

W: That's worrying! Will there be enough oil to satisfy our needs in the year 20207

M. During the 2000s, world oil production will reach the maximum and the price of oil will begin to increase. At the next ten years of the century, the available supplies will not be sufficient for our needs. So , at least part of these needs will have to be met by alternative sources of energy.

W: Well, that's a warning that we all need to take seriously. And with that warning, we end part one of this week's.

(23)

A.Increase food production.

B.Increase oil production.

C.Birth control.

D.All of above.

听力原文:M: Right, I guess you’ve got some ideas for our product promotion.

W: Well, first we must win over the medical circle, so I thought we should launch a campaign in all the specialist medical journals to promote our drugs, antibiotics and so on.

M: Yes, that’s a good idea.

W: Then TV commercials.

M: Just a moment, are you sure we’re allowed to advertise medicines on TV?

W: Oh yes, provided they are not drugs which need a prescription. You can advertise over-the-counter products. We can get users of our products to recommend them —“Their lotion cured my disease in six days.” for example.

M: Now, hold on. It is forbidden to claim any positive cure for a disease. And we mustn’t offer any drugs for illness which should be treated by a doctor.

W: Hmm. OK. What about this—a series of full page newspaper ads with the message that most doctors consider our products the best.

M: That depends on whether it’s true.

W: Sure it is. But here is another suggestion. We could offer to return the purchase price to anyone who’s not satisfied with one of our products. It’s possible to do that, isn’t it?

M: No, I’m afraid not. Manufacturers of medical products are not allowed to promise a return of price in their ads.

W: Well, it looks as though I’ll have to come up with something else. I never realize the regulations were so tight.

(20)

A.What kind of medicine to develop.

B.When to advertise the drugs.

C.How to promote their products.

D.The regulations of medicine advertising.
