听力原文:W: Hi. Can I help you?

M: Hi. I've, uh, just opened a checking account and I want to withdraw 150 euros. What I want to know is, who do I make the check out to?

W: Well, since the money is for you yourself, you make it out to cash.

M: OK. W... how do I do that?

W: You just write the word "cash" on this line.

M: This line here?

W: Yes, next to "pay to the order of".

M: OK. C-A-S-H. Now, I want to make this 150 euros. There, howls this?

W: Well, you've written the amount in numbers, but you have to write it out in words, too. That goes on the second line, there.

M: Oh, yeah.

W: By the way, it's a good idea to draw a line from the end of the amount to the word "euros" so nobody can change the amount.

M: Oh, thanks. Well, tlaat should do it. Here you go.

W: You forgot to sign your name. There, in the bottom right corner.

M: Woops, sorry. Here you go.

W: The date.

M: W... huh?

W: The date--you forgot it. It goes in the top right corner.

M: Oh, right. OK, am I done?

W: Yes, That's fifty--a hundred--a hundred and fifty euros.

M: Thanks a lot. Have a good day!

听力原文:M: Hi Come in.

W: Hi. I stopped by to see if you were still looking for a roommate to share your house.

M: Sure,I am. Ever since I cut back on my working hours to go to school,I've really had a tight budget.Let me show you the place. Here's the living room.

W: Oh.It looks like you could use a new carpet…and those stains?

M: Well.I know it needs to be cleaned, but I just don't have the money to do it right now.

W: And what about the kitchen?

M: Right this way.Look.It's completely furnished with all the latest appliances except…

W: What?

M: Well, the refrigerator door is broken and it won't shut all the way. It needs fixing, but don't worry. I've just pushed a box against it to keep it shut.

W: Great.

M: Ah. It isn't that bad.

W: Well, how about the bathroom?

M: Well....It is fine, but, uh, the tiles in the bathroom need to be replaced, and the window needs fixing.

W: Let me see. The tile.., what? The window? Where's the window pane?

M: Well, that's another slight problem. I've put up a piece of cardboard to keep out the rain and snow, and if it gets a little cold, you can always turn on the heat.

W: Hey, I think I've seen enough. I can't believe you've survived under these conditions.

M: So what do you think? You really can't beat a place like this for $450 a month. So it has its problems, but we can fix those.

W: No, thank you. I think I've seen enough.

听力原文:M: Hi, Sarah, what's up?

W: Oh, hi. I just got out of a history class. I had to give a presentation.

M: How did it go?

W: Terribly. I'm sure I made a fool of myself.

M: Why? Weren't you. prepared?

W: No, it's not that. I just get so embarrassed and nervous whenever I've to speak in front of a group of people. I stand up and my face gets red and then I get even more nervous because I know everyone can see me blushing.

M: It is not so bad to blush.

W: But it happens all the time. If the professor asks a question and I know the answer, I'll blush like crazy if be calls on me. Doesn't that ever happen to you?

M: No, not really. Maybe you should try to forget about the people. Look at something else in the room, like the exit sign.

W: I guess I could try that. But I doubt it will help.

M: You know we talked about this in psychology class. Blushing, even though it's involuntary, is more or less a learned behavior.

W: What do you mean?

M: Oh, children hardly ever blush at all. And, among adults, supposedly women blush more than men.

W: I wonder why.

M: I don't know. But I had a friend in high school, Brian Smith. It was really easy to make him blush. He turned red whenever a waitress would ask him for his order.

W: I'm not that bad. Well, I've got to get going for my next class. I'll talk to you later.

M: Hi. You are...?

M: Yeah, yeah. I remember, Mary, the active girl usually in red. Nice to meet you, too.

W: Susan told me I might meet you here, but I didn't expect it so soon.

M: When did you come here?

W: A couple of days ago. I've just been here for no longer than a week. Today I just had my first class.

M: How was your first class?

W: Well, I got lost and I was totally late!

M: Don't worry about it. It was a freshman class, so I'm sure that you weren't the only person who was late!

W: Yeah, the class was moved to another building, so I was late. But I don't think I missed much though.

M: Yeah, the first day is just going over the syllabus and finding out what will be expected of the students. Still, if you don't want to sit in the front, you'd better go there early to find a seat since the classroom usually fills up.

W: Thank you for telling me. Where are you going?

M: I have an appointment with my advisor. He is going to be mad at me because I am behind in my research for the fellowship! I'm supposed to have an outline ready by today!

W: Uh oh! What are you going to do?

M: I'll promise him a complete outline early next week. Luckily, I know something about this subject already, so I can whip together a short outline after biology class. That reminds me. I've got to run. See you later!

W: OK. Good luck!

M: Ah, yes, I'll call you later when I'm free. What's your phone number?

听力原文:W: Good morning. This is housing office. How can I help you?

M: Hi. I'm calling about the new subsidized low-cost housing for graduate students.

W: Are you aware that it's only available to married graduate students and their families?

M: Yes. I think my wife and I may qualify since she's still in graduate school. But I was wondering whether there were any other requirements.

W: Well, unless you have more than one child, you have to have a combined annual income that's less than 5000 dollars.

M: I'm working as a part-time research assistant so that's no problem. But right now we're living with my wife's parents. Does that mean we have to include their income too?

W: Not necessarily. Why don't you stop by our office so I can give you some forms to fill out and explain everything in more detail?

M: That sounds like a good idea. Would tomorrow morning be all right?

W: I think the afternoon might be better. You know it can be pretty crazy around here on a Friday morning.

M: All right then. I'll try to make it in the afternoon, Is there anyone special I should ask for?

W: You can ask for me, Susan Davidson, or my assistant Bill Brown. We'll be glad to give you any help you need.

M: OK. Thanks a lot. See you then.

听力原文:M: Hi. I have a reservation for tonight.

W: And your name?

M: It's Nelson. Charles Nelson.

W: Okay. Mr. Nelson. That's a room for five, and...

M: Excuse me? You mean a room for five dollars? I didn't know the special was so good.

W: No, no, no. According to our records, a room for five guests was hooked under your name.

M: No. No. Hold on. There must be some mistake.

W: Okay. Let's check this again. Okay, Mr. Charles C. Nelson for tonight...

M: Ah. There's the problem. My name is Charles Nelson, not Charles C. Nelson. You must have two guests under the name.

W: Okay. Let me check this again. Oh. Okay. Here we are.

M: Yeah.

W: Charles Nelson. A room for one for the 19th...

M: Wait, wait! It was for tonight. Not tomorrow night.

W: Hum. Ham. I don't think we have any rooms for tonight. There's a convention going on in town.

Let's see. Yeah, no rooms.

M: Ah! Come on! You must have something. Anything.

W: Well. We do have some rooms under renovation with just a roll-a-way bed. None of the normal facilities like a TV or working shower or toilet.

M: Ah man. Come on. There must be something else.

W: Well. Let, let me check my computer here, Ah!

M: What?

W: There has been a cancellation for this evening. A honey moon suite is now available.

M: Great. I'll take it.

W: But I'll have to charge you two hundred fifty dollars for the night.

M: Ah. Man. I should get a discount for the inconvenience.

W: Well. The best I can give you is a ten percent discount plus a ticket for a free continental breakfast.

M: Hey. Isn't the breakfast free anyway?

W: Well, only on weekends.

M: I want to talk to the manager.
